Ben Glow places 2nd in State in Jr. Biochemistry Science Fair!
Congratulations to Benjamin Glow for placing 2nd place in Jr. Biochemistry at the 58th Annual State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida.
His project title: Comparative Study of Protein Content and Monosaccharide Presence in Naturally Raised versus Standard Raised Beef Livestock with Fodder from Natural versus Standard Feet Lots.
Greco Selected for "What's Right in Education" Film Documentary After Nationwide Search!

After a nationwide search, movie producers selected Greco Middle School to be featured in an upcoming documentary about "what's working right in education". Many schools across the country (including several schools in Hillsborough County) were considered, but Greco has been selected to represent Hillsborough County for its reform efforts to improve teaching. For this filming, Greco teachers will highlight the positive efforts of the district's Empowering Effective Teacher mentoring program.

Greco Parents: Anytime filming occurs, movie producers film more than what they need so they will be here on our campus for the rest of the year filming. If your child's classroom will be specifically targeted, your student has already been given a media release form.

Application to the STEM and Pre-KAPs programs are now handled through the school district Choice office which can be accessed by visiting the school district website, www. sdhc.k12.fl.us and selecting the tab “Choice Options”.
The first middle school application period opens December 4th and ends January 9, 2013.

Scholastic Reading Counts Information
Scholastic Reading Counts is a reading incentive program similar to Accelerated Reader (AR). Students will take quizzes on books they've read and accumulate points toward reading goals set by their Language Arts teachers. Reading Counts is designed to encourage students to read independently and for comprehension. The Media Center will be offering incentives to reward student participation in the Reading Counts program.
